BTEC First Diploma / Certificate in Health and Social Care

Course Description:

This is a vocational course preparing you for work in the Health and Social Care field or for further study at a more advanced level. You will study 8 vocational units:

  • Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Individual Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Individual Needs in Health and Social Care
  • Ensuring Safe Environments in Health and Social Care
  • Cultural Diversity in Health and Social Care
  • Anatomy and Physiology in Health and Social Care
  • Human Lifespan Development
  • Impact of Diet on Health

The Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grade A–C.
The Certificate is equivalent to two GCSEs grade A–C.

Entry Requirements:

  • KS3 Levels 5/6
  • Excellent school attendance
  • Good tutor/school report
  • Successful interview

Further Study:

BTEC Extended Diploma in Health Care if the BTEC First Diploma is completed at Merit Level or above; subject to good attendance and tutor report.

Childcare CACHE Level 1 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Caring for Children

This qualification is aimed at students interested in a career working with children.

This course provides an opportunity to gain an awareness of key areas of knowledge and understanding relating to childcare and education. You will study units on Human Growth and Development, Healthy Living, Health and Safety, Play, Safeguarding, Self Development and Preparing for your next steps.

The certificate is equivalent to three GCSEs grade D–G.
The award is equivalent to ½ GCSEs grade D–G.

Further Study:

CACHE Level 2 Award, Certificate, or Diploma in Childcare and Education or BTEC First Certificate/Diploma in Health and Social Care if the Foundation course is completed at Merit or above, with a good tutor's report.
