Principal Learning in Information Technology and Project
Course Description:
We use technology everywhere – at home, school and work, we couldn't live without it! This course will prepare you for further study or a job in the IT sector, or a huge range of other careers. You will learn through carrying out practical, real–life projects and investigations, using different types of hardware and software. There are also several visits to local businesses.
Topics studied will include: how organisations use technology, components of IT systems, multimedia systems and communication media used in business. You will also develop your investigative, communication, presentation and project management skills.
Assignments are being written with local businesses such as Cap Gemini, Princess Royal Hospital, William A Lewis. Typical tasks could involve designing an IT system for a local business, and carrying out a real IT project.
This qualification is equivalent to five GCSEs grade A*–C and the Project qualification is equivalent to half a GCSE grade A*–C.
Entry Requirements:
- Minimum Key Stage 3 Levels 5/6 in English, Mathematics and ICT
- School recommendation
Further Study:
Successfully completing this course will enable you to continue your studies on either a National Diploma in Computing or Systems Support course.
