The course will look at the development of practical skills focusing on plumbing and electrical installation, with underpinning knowledge covering a range of construction technologies.

The course covers both the techniques and technology used and prepares learners for a technical role in a range of construction jobs.

Also suitable for mature learners

The course is also suitable for mature learners who wish to gain a qualification, perhaps in preparation for a specific Level 3 qualification, or for moving into work in the construction sector.

Learners will be equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding to enter a range of occupations.

Entry requirements:

  • GCSE passes at Grade D in suitable subjects including Maths, Science, Design and Technology
  • Progression from an equivalent suitable previous qualification

Options for further study include:

  • Level 3 Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment

Notes about Level 3 study:

Apprenticeships at Level 3 studying industry specific qualifications such as Electrical Installation or Plumbing. Assessment is performed using written assignments and practical tasks. The qualification will suit learners who prefer not to do written examinations. The course takes 1 year studying full-time.
