Codes of Practice

The Community of Telford College has a strong belief in equality of opportunity for all its staff and students, and the Equal Opportunities Policy, revised in June 2000, makes a clear commitment to “working towards eliminating discrimination”.

The LRC Team has identified some of the ways in which the Team can implement policy, bearing in mind the purpose, environment, personnel, client groups and culture of its work areas.

The team has drawn up this Code of Practice to guide and inform practices and behaviour in the LRC. The team owns, values and supports the Code, and will seek to share its implementation with its users.

As a starting point, the team takes the “Specific Principles” section of the Equal Opportunities Policy, and identifies the items that relate directly to the work of the team, that is: “Gender", “Age”, “Race”, “Sexuality” and “Ability/Disability”. Further attention will need to be given to the area of religious and other beliefs. Those items which have a college–wide remit have been left to the appropriate authority, those which relate to the work of the team have been addressed.

Our team view the word “challenged” as a means of engaging in an open dialogue where individual opinions can be explained.
