Employability Skills

Many people who apply for a formal Apprenticeship or employment do not have the skills required to secure a position. They have a noticeable lack of communication skills, self-confidence and specific workplace skills

Each learner who enrols on a programme will complete a diagnostic test which will identify their specific needs.

Our range of programmes cover all aspects of employability skills including;

  • Best way to apply for a job
  • Produce a good CV
  • Produce a good letter of application
  • Completion of application forms
  • This will ensure that when learners attend that important job interview they have the skills to secure an apprenticeship or employment.

    Another focus for the Apprentice Academy is to support unemployed people, for whom an apprenticeship is not appropriate. The College is committed to programmes for the unemployed and will concentrate on employability skills. During the past 12 months the College has helped retrain and signpost to employment over 1,000 people who have found themselves unemployed.

    The Pre–Employment Skills programme is an integral part that continues this work to support the unemployed to develop additional skills that are needed to help them back into work.
