Governor Vacancies 2016 - 2017

College Governors are people from the community the College serves who wish to make a positive contribution to the development of further education and to ensure that employers in the area have access to a wide range of well skilled employees. Governors are volunteers who have an important part to play in raising standards through their three key roles of:

  • Setting strategic direction.
  • Ensuring accountability.
  • Monitoring and evaluating college performance.

TCAT is the largest provider of Further Education in the county of Shropshire and plays a crucial role in the development of the skills and talents of young people and adults. The role of a Governor is interesting and varied. It is not an easy role these days in the challenging times that face the education sector but it is rewarding and you will need to confirm your willingness to commit the necessary time and effort needed to fulfil the role. Perhaps you are a middle manager who would like to develop boardroom skills or perhaps recently retired and looking to give something back to the community. You could have a background in the public or private sector. The broader your vocational field, experience and skills the better. You will need to confirm their willingness to commit the necessary time and effort needed to fulfil the role. The Corporation welcomes all applications and is keen to involve people of all ages (over 18)and cultural backgrounds and strongly encourages applications from under-represented groups and from all sections of the community served.
