Bayley Mile Celebrates Olympic Year

The traditional Bayley Mile, to be staged in Wellington next Wednesday (17th May), will be spiced up with a special twist to mark this special Olympic year. Today, in conjunction with Lesley Street, in her term of office as Wellington Mayor, Telford College Principal Janet Ellis unveiled the special torches that will be carried along the route by elite runners from the College Sports Academy.

Students Get Taste of Army Life

Thirty Public Services students from Telford College will get a taste of military life when they link up with the Royal Mercian & Lancastrian Yeomanry, a local reserve unit based in Dawley Bank, on Wednesday 9th May for an exciting, hands on morning of activities. This initial collaboration will mark the launch of the brand new ‘Telford College Army Detachment’, a unique and innovative initiative which will create a wide range of exciting new opportunities for current and future students.

‘Telford College Enterprise Week’, which ran from Monday 30th April until Friday 4th May , saw students and local school children participating in a wide range of activities and tasks as the College promotes the culture of  entrepreneurship and innovation.

Apprentices Raise £300 for Hospital Cancer Unit

 A group of engineering apprentices from Telford College have raised £300 for the Princess Royal Hospital Breast Unit. The twelve maintenance engineers, all aged between 16 and 21 and from every corner of the UK, are employed by Finning (UK) Ltd one of the world’s largest distributors of Caterpillar plant and power systems.

Sammy on Fast Track to Success

Telford College student Sammy Mitchell is reflecting on a life changing twelve months as she is about to successfully complete her full-time course and is now looking forward to a new career in IT. Having commenced the BTEC Level 3 course in Networking last September, the 24 yr old from Muxton has been fast tracked to complete the programme in one academic year instead of two. As a result of her excellent achievements Sammy has been offered a prestigious apprenticeship with Cap Gemini.
