Earlier this year Telford College of Arts and Technology were selected as one of only 14 named Football Focus Colleges.
The Focus College scheme is a joint venture run by The Football Association and British Colleges Sport. The Focus College award brings to the fore outstanding delivery and highlights best practice in football provision at the selected colleges.
Focus Colleges will work very closely with The FA and BCS in taking a lead role with national initiatives that link into The FA National Game Strategy.
At the annual National Colleges Conference held recently at Aston University Business School, Telford College were honoured to be named national Focus College of the year.
This national award bears the inscription, “In recognition of outstanding achievement on a national level in football development”
Assistant Principal Colin Walker noted what a proud moment this was for the college receiving such a prestigious award “To be named best in the country is very special indeed”
Director of Sports Academy Paul Young commented,
“To receive such recognition nationally is superb, it is fantastic reward for a lot of hard work from the students and a tremendously dedicated coaching team. It signifies a great achievement from all The Sports Academy Team here at Telford College.”
