Telford College is always looking for committed people to play a key role in providing strategic leadership in helping the College maintain its strong presence as a high quality provider in the local community.
We are keen to hear from individuals or organisations that may wish to nominate an individual to serve on the Corporation. The College welcomes applications from all sections of the community and is particularly keen to receive applications from members of the black and ethnic minority community who are currently under- represented on our governing body.
Governors do not receive any payment for their services but can claim reasonable expenses that may be incurred.
Governors need to be very committed individuals dedicated to the continued development of learners and the vital part that the College plays in the community. Governors must be able to commit to at least 4 full Corporation meetings per year which are normally held at 5.00pm on a Monday evening and also serve on at least one Committee.
You might like to take a look at the documents on the Governance Web page the minutes of the Corporation and its Committees will give you an idea of the level of debate and the topics that are covered in the meetings. The Corporation Members Handbook and Standing Orders sets out all the rules that apply to being a Governor.
If there is no immediate vacancy your name will be held on a register of interest so an approach can be made when we know a vacancy has or is likely to occur.
All applications have to be considered by the Corporation's Search Committee. You will be invited to attend the Search Committee meeting to put forward the reasons you would like to be considered.
