The course is assignment based, unlike other exam based Level 3 qualifications such as A Levels, and so suits those who prefer course work
The award for successful completion is a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3 and this provides a route for progression to the following Level 4 courses:
The course is designed to give the student a good broad based learning experience in all aspects of Engineering / Manufacturing / Maintenance
This is achieved through practical work supported by underpinning knowledge
It has the added advantage of providing first year 'off the job' training for the modern apprenticeship scheme supported and recognised by national and local industries.
Successful students will be well positioned to secure a modern apprenticeship with local companies and thereby further their skills/training.
Successful completion of this course will give exemption from the first year of a modern apprenticeship and entry onto City & Guilds 2800 Certificate in Engineering, Manufacture / Maintenance
