Commercial Development and Training Spectator Control Profile for Rugby
Rugby Union and League clubs from the Zurich Premiership and the Nationwide Conference are currently working with Telford College training their Safety Stewards to achieve an NVQ level 2 in Spectator Control.
All the training is delivered by the Colleges team of Trainers at the Rugby stadium. This is followed by NVQ assessment on match days.
The training provided follows the profile recommended in the Football Leagues Red Safety guide. The modules which are delivered over a 2/3 hours per module are as follows:
- General Responsibilities
- Safe Environment
- Response to Spectators
- Emergency Aid
- Basic Fire Awareness
- Contingencies and Evacuation
- Racism and Disability
The match day NVQ assessment ensures that the Safety Steward carries out their job to the standard specified by Local Authority.
Over 1,000 Safety Stewards have successfully completed the NVQ level 2 in Spectator Control with Telford College.
